Emily Quinn

Emily Blair Quinn’s realistic oil paintings are psychological landscapes in which female figures are melting, translucent, fractured, and possibly on the edge of a mental breakdown—their emotional states are manifested through various stages of physical collapse. Utilizing multiple methods involving paint, wax, and resin, Quinn transforms dollhouses, figurines, and miniatures into theatrical dioramas that serve as the still life for her paintings. She uses dark humor and bright colors to engage viewers, making her work a catalyst for conversations that acknowledge and normalize feelings of isolation, loneliness, and loss. 
Quinn received an MFA from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2016 and a BFA from Auburn University (Auburn, AL) in 2013. She has exhibited in galleries and museums across the U.S. and is represented by Marquee Projects (Bellport, NY.) Her work has been featured in various publications, including Create Magazine, Delicious Line, Studio Visit Magazine, and VoyageKC Magazine. In addition, she is a recipient of residencies at ChaNorth, Joshua Tree Highlands, and the Vermont Studio Center. Quinn currently lives and works in Kansas City.
